United Church of Christ National Headquarters

The United Church of Christ contacted Technical Assurance to provide consulting, engineering, and project management services. The United Church of Christ building located in downtown Cleveland, Ohio is a beautiful ornate structure with terra cotta detailing from a bygone era of masonry craftsmanship. This structure built in 1899 is primarily composed of brick masonry with granite panels near grade and terra cotta ornamentation at the roofline and other various locations. Protecting the beauty of this craftsmanship was imperative and challenging especially in regards to the terra cotta units.

Technical Assurance developed an Asset Management Plan, which provided options for the repair and restoration of building deterioration caused by the infiltration of water and deicing salts. Moreover, the Asset Management Plan or phased programming schedule, which is inclusive of construction, contingency, and consultant expenditures, also details an ongoing preventative maintenance program. Technical Assurance’s role in the restoration of the United Church of Christ building successfully prevented the loss of this amazing craftsmanship and guaranteed its presence for future generations.
